You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
Matthew 5:13
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. Jesus uses an unlikely ingredient to illustrate God's incredible plan to season lives with His hope and love. We are the salt that He uses.
What happens when salt loses its flavor? It becomes useless and discarded. Similarly, if our faith becomes dull and unfulfilling, we risk losing our impact for Christ. We were created to bring flavor to a world hungry for hope, but if we don't stay fresh in our relationship with Him, we risk becoming stale and inconsequential.
Being light is about reflecting Jesus' glory in the midst of darkness. When we live as children of light, we illuminate the path for others, pointing them toward the Savior. As we trust in God's goodness and share it with others, we shine a beacon of hope in a world desperate for light.
Living as salt and light isn't about us; it's about God's transformative power working through us. May we remain fresh with Jesus, staying seasoned with His love that we might season the lives around us.
