You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

Matthew 5:13

We are called to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs Jesus' message. As His representatives, we have the unique privilege of sharing His love with those who need it most. But what does it mean to be salt? Salt adds flavor to our food and helps preserve it, stopping decay. In like manner, we add spiritual flavor to the lives of those around us through our witness, our love, and our kindness. We preserve and protect relationships by standing firm for what is right, even when it's difficult. As we seek to be salt in this world, we must be careful not to lose our 'saltiness.' When we become complacent or apathetic, we cease to be effective. We stop being a source of spiritual nourishment and begin to wither and die. Our influence becomes nothing more than a hollow shell of what it once was. But God has given us the power to be restored and refocused. We can 'season' our lives with a renewed commitment to faithfulness, purity, and love. We can once again be the salt of the earth that God has called us to be. In the same way, we are called to be light in a world filled with darkness. Jesus said, 'Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven' (Matthew 5:16). As we reflect the light of Christ, we draw people to salvation and honor God. We become beacons of hope in a world torn apart by sin and fear. So, let us seek to be salt and light in this world. Let us reflect God's character with boldness and humility, adding flavor to the lives of those around us and shining brightly for all to see. --- Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, help me to be a source of spiritual 'salt' in the lives of those around me. Give me the courage to stand for what is right, even when it's difficult. Help me to reflect Your light in a world filled with darkness, that people may be drawn to salvation and glorify You. Thank you for the power to be restored and refocused. I am Your child, and I will make You proud.
