Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28
Surrender is not a popular concept in our self-driven society. We're often encouraged to push harder, work longer, and strive for more. But Jesus offers a different path. He invites us to come to him, not to add to our burdens, but to find rest. When we surrender our need to control, we discover that Jesus is enough. He is our strength, our guide, and our peace.
Jesus didn't promise an easy life, but he did promise to be with us through the ups and downs. When we let go of our need to be in charge, we can experience the freedom to walk with him, trusting that he will guide us. This surrender is not about being passive; it's about being proactive in our relationship with God. It's about recognizing that we can't carry our burdens alone and inviting him to take the weight.
So, what would it look like to surrender your burdens to Jesus today? Is there a particular area of your life where you're struggling to let go? Take a deep breath and invite Jesus into that space. Ask him to take your burdens, to give you rest, and to guide you forward. As you do, remember that surrender is not a one-time event; it's a ongoing process of trust and reliance on God's goodness and faithfulness.
