Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. You gave them authority over demon spirits to free people from them and to heal all who were ill

Matthew 10:8

As we follow Jesus' teachings, we often come across commands that seem daunting. Take a moment to consider the instruction in Matthew 10:8, where Jesus commissions His disciples to 'heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons.' This passage is often misunderstood as a license for us to take on extraordinary spiritual gifts. However, it serves as a reminder of Jesus' authority and power over creation. In granting this authority to His disciples, Jesus demonstrated that He has total control over the world He created. But what about when we or someone we love is suffering with illness or injury? How do we reconcile Jesus' authority with the limitations of human experience? The key is understanding that Jesus' healing ministry was not just physical but also spiritual. While He may choose to heal our bodies, His primary focus was always on restoring our relationship with Him through faith. As we seek physical healing, remember to prioritize spiritual healing first. This involves acknowledging our dependence on God, surrendering our lives to Him, and trusting in His sovereignty. When we do, we find that physical healing is possible, not because we deserve it, but because Jesus' authority over creation extends to us. --- Prayer Heavenly Father, we come to You with open hearts, acknowledging Your sovereignty over all aspects of our lives. Grant us wisdom to prioritize spiritual healing and trust in Your authority over creation. May Your compassion and love flow through us as we seek to minister to those in need of physical healing.
