Crucified, Yet Alive: Discovering Your True Identity in Christ

I am who I am, I have this identity of being a Christian. It's not what I do, it's not who I once was, but it's who I am in Christ. The concept of crucifixion may seem gruesome to our modern sensibilities, but it represents the essence of what it means to be a follower of Christ. The apostle Paul writes, "I am crucified with Christ," emphasizing the idea that our old selves, with all their sin and weakness, have been nailed to the cross. It's a radical statement of surrender, of letting go of our own power and will, and embracing the power of Christ. But here's the incredible part: when we're crucified with Christ, something miraculous happens. We no longer live for ourselves, but for Jesus. Our lives are redirected, our priorities shift, and we suddenly realize that we're not the ones in control anymore. As we live by faith in Jesus, our identity becomes rooted in Him, and we begin to experience the transformative power of the Gospel. In Galatians 2:20, Paul writes, "and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God." We're no longer defined by our flesh, which is inherently flawed and sinful; we're defined by our union with Christ, who is perfect and holy. In Christ, we find our true identity, one that's marked by humility, love, and a heart for God. We're no longer the same person we were before our encounter with Jesus. We're redeemed, restored, and renewed in Him. Our identity is now inextricably linked to Christ's, and that's a beautiful thing. --- Prayer Lord, thank You for crucifying my old self on the cross and raising me to new life in Christ. Help me to rest in my true identity, which is rooted in You and not in my flesh. May I live each day by the faith of Your Son, and may my love for You shine brightly for all to see.
